Name: Saraphina Mireille Nicolette Boudreaux
Age:
24
Alignment: Mafia; Don Korso.
Appearance: Sara is petite and muscular. She has scars from when she still operated primarily on the streets, along with callouses. Her eyes are light green, grey in certain lighting. Her hair is very long (despite short hair becoming all the rage), wavy, and thick, and usually put up into a loose bun or a french twist.
Personality: Sara is ambitious; she had very little growing up and wants better than what she got, so she is always looking for an opportunity to get ahead, in whatever way she can. She does not like being talked down to; she has resorted to violent means to prove herself before, even when it may have been unwise. She can be very reluctant to open up to anyone besides Gaston, but she isn't without heart; she wants to protect those she feels have also been trod upon by the world, and she figures the best way to do it is to kill many, many victimizers.
History: Sara's mother had been a wealthy young woman in France engaged to a similarly wealthy young man with an excellent pedigree, but eloped with an American painter, forsaking her family and home for a hard life wandering Europe. While her bohemian lover visited the salons of talented souls and produced fine works of art, Sara's mother took what jobs she could to support her and her husband, and then later their infant daughter. Evangeline de Montsimmard-Turner died from cholera, and was tossed into a cholera pit, with other similarly unfortunate souls. Edward Turner, heartbroken and desperate, returned to Gatsberry where he'd left his own family, hoping to get financial and emotional support. Finding that they too, had died, Edward gave a three year old Sara to an orphanage, before disappearing forever.
Gaston, then six, took it upon himself to watch new arrivals, and found himself very much attached to the rambunctious girl, who backtalked the caretakers and cause mischief for them when she could. Sara grew up hungry and abused, hating authorities for not caring about what happened to children like her, or anyone being hurt like her. She didn't want to always have a hollow feeling in her stomach or wear rags or walk barefoot on the streets until she left bloody footprints wherever she went begging. So, she decided to take initiative when she was ten. Along with Gaston and some of the older children, she began to steal food and clothes from those she felt could afford to lose something. Those that tried to attack them on these food runs found out how well she could use a knife.
When she was fifteen, she and Gaston were finally adopted by a kind, but poor, young couple, the Boudreauxs. While they were overjoyed (and shocked) to have a loving home, Sara and Gaston felt they couldn't stop their illegal activities. The small gang they had formed with other orphans continued, eventually developing into a bootlegging operation based in an abandoned factory. They continued that until the Don Korso hit the scene and became the power in Gatsberry; small operations like the Boudreauxs' were in danger of being driven out by those Korso's outfit sponsored and protected. It was either disband or join up. The others in the gang refused to join Korso, opting to take other jobs (some legitimate work). Sara realized that the best option was to join, even reluctantly. The abandoned factory was renovated and turned into a popular speakeasy, the Crown Jewel, which has enabled the Boudreauxs to attain more wealth than they had as simple bootleggers. Sara is ever hopeful of being where Korso is now, however, and should an opportunity present itself, she'll take it.
