Artemis had decided if she was going to see the world for herself then she sure as hell wasn't going to let anything stop her. At least that had been the original idea, before she quickly realized her trying to see the world from her current perspective wasn't going to work well. Sure she could see all the sights and places, but there were still some problems. 1. She was an heiress, she'd lived a semi sheltered life since she was about 8. Blending in with the lower classes was going to be hard if she didn't look or act like them. 2. She was a girl. While Gatsberry wasn't the worst place for women's rights, it certainly wasn't the best place either. What she needed was a disguise, the only way to blend in was to pretend to be a boy. However there was yet another problem with that, she had no idea what to do or how to act. This was why she found herself standing in the middle of the theatre, looking for the woman she had only seen on a couple of occasions and rarely spoken to, Cruella De Vil. If anyone was going to help her pull this off, it was going to have to be Ms. De Vil. "Hello!" She called out. "Is anyone here?"

It was a well known fact that Cruella usually liked staying around the theatre or the ballet studios every time there was a performance or a show of sorts. In a way, it gave her a rather intense and amusing feeling of nostalgia, reminescing of her days of glory, when the world clamored for her and swooned each time she gave a bow or threw a stare at the roaring crowds. More than the catwalks and even mannors, Cruella knew the stage was her one, true home. It was precisely because of that she had legally changed her birth name to her artistic name, holding no regrets about embracing this side of her. It was the best she had going for herself, all truth be told.
When everything was settled and the curtains called, there was still silent and solemn magic in the middle of stage, which allowed for Cruella to feel exhilerated and incredibly content. She saw the crowds roaring for her work, albeit in the sidelines. It was not as glorious, but she knew when to come in and when to go out. This was no longer her time in the limelight. The backstage shadows were now her palace, and she'd be their queen as well.
The sudden feminine voice that insisted on breaking her focus made her frown slightly, annoyed that someone had forgotten something. It was usually the fact. Getting up from the seat she had gracefully chosen as a resting spot, the woman glared at the sight, a young girl at that. "Didn't anyone teach you not to go into a theatre after she show is over, child?" she spat out, staring at the young, skinny lady.

Artemis had been examining the stage, trying to imagine what it might be like to have been on that stage. She thought her mother had been here once, a long time ago, but it was before she was old enough to remember for sure. When she didn't hear or see any sign of life, Artemis frowned. Hmm, maybe this was a bad idea after all. Maybe Cruella wasn't here? What would that mean for her scheme? Her thoughts were interrupted by a shrill voice. "Didn't anyone teach you not to go into a theatre after she show is over, child?" Artemis blinked in surprise. "Oh! I'm sorry, but I didn't know there was even a show. I was looking for someone. Maybe you could help me?" She was trying hard to be polite but it was a little difficult considering the attitude this woman was giving her. Was this Miss De Vil?

Cruella had her trademark long cigarette held between her lips, her coal eyes fixated upon Artemis for quite a long while while she tilted her head to the side, clearly observing and sizing her up. She looked well fed enough, and had rather curious attributes, even if some of her traits had somewhat of a boyish quality. Who exactly was this young lady?
Suddenly rolling her eyes, the former starlet took a step back, eventually turning around to walk towards the stage, frown back in place. "If you happen to be looking for an extra cent, you'd be out of luck. Most of the scoundrels hardly leave a tip anymore." she mentioned with a shrug, walking down the steps that led to the stage. "Although, if you happen to be looking for someone, you're also fresh out of luck. Only I stick around this long, dear."
Cruella was clearly not there to please anyone, let alone a girl she had just barely stricken conversation with, but she was intrigued about what she had to say. Was she looking for her, even?

As the woman with the strange hair and coal black eyes examined her, Artemis felt slightly odd. It was like she was a piece of meat being examined by the woman in front of her. She shook her head slowly at the woman's comment about money. That wasn't why she was here at all. "I'm not here for money, I'm looking for a Ms. De vil? I have something to ask her. I don't suppose that's you?" She walked toward the stage where the eccentric looking woman was. She didn't need money, she needed an actress to teach her how to pull off this scheme of hers. From what she had heard Cruella was the perfect choice to go to. "I have a rather.. odd request." It was odd. How was she supposed to say she wanted to learn how to act like a boy? Without sounding crazy?

Cruella could not help but bite down on her lip upon hearing her explanation. Her usually graceful movement came to a sudden move as she halted in her step, her fists clenching in place while she looked forward; taking a long, drawn out breath. It was most likely her overly inflated ego, but Cruella de Vil felt terribly offended each time she turned out to be confused with someone else or have someone completely ignore who she was. Was it not obvious? It had not passed that much time since she had last perform. To make things worse, she had been working around and making herself known in Gatsberry for quite a while. Just who in the world did this young lady thing she was to act so condenscending towards her? What had she even done in her life.
Her breath picking up slightly, Cruella found it hard to refrain herself from assuming an agressive attitude towards the blond youth, choosing instead to hold her perfect while pelt close to her before inhaling deeply, her eyelids closing before she calmed down and turned around to face this petulant child. "Darling, I am sure you are either jesting or have spent your life hiding under a rock, but most would say it is borderline offensive to not acknowledge a star immediately after you see them." she reiterated, her head tilted down while eyeing down her newest acquaintance with what was resembled to be contempt, though one could hardly tell.
Fidgeting and playing around with the soft, white fur of her coat, she took yet another deep breath, deciding to refrain from the harsher approach for the moment. "Odd request? Just say it, dear; I haven't got all day." she declared with a shrug, looking away from her now, almost if she was bored by the girl's presence.

Artemis realized her mistake too late. Now that she could clearly see the woman in the fur coat and with the eccentric hair, she knew that this was in fact the famous Cruella. Judging by her response it was possible she might have accidentally offended her. Great, that's just how I wanted to start off this meeting, accidentally insulting her. You're real smart there Arty. If she was lucky maybe the woman would at least give her some tips. When she was asked if she lived under a rock, Artemis almost laughed, but thought better of it. That would set off Cruella for sure. "I wouldn't say I've lived under a rock, exactly, but you are close." She had managed to keep her composure the entire time and she was a little proud of that. It wasn't that Artemis was ignorant of Miss De Vil's skill set. She had heard many stories about her, and read plenty too. The reason for her ignorance was just she didn't get out much. Cruella was eyeing her with an distinct expression on her face, it was probably contempt. Yeah she had messed up.
Cruella began playing with the white fur coat she was wearing. She took a deep breath then looked at Artemis. "Odd request? Just say it, dear; I haven't got all day." Artemis raised an eyebrow in amusement. This woman really was dramatic. "Alright, you asked for it.... I want you to turn me into a guy."

Taking a step back, Cruella tilted her head to the side, a sly little grin slowly slitting her lips in a rather eerie manner. Had the young blonde lady required of her exactly what she had? She had been asked to help people act, dance even, sometimes actually being hired so that they could properly learn how to dress. All of those were usual jobs for her, and ones she certainly was great at mastering. Yet, this one felt rather bizarre. The girl was actually asking her to help her change her gender? That felt a bit off putting for her, not that she had anything against drag or cross-dressing. Men who did so were rather proficient and had earned her fair share of respect in the showbusiness world. Yet, why did the girl choose to approach her about this?
"Surely you are jesting, dear." she declared, her black and white hair making her clearly stand out and yet feel not as extreme as what the girl had come to ask of her, at least in her eyes. Was she for real, though? She had had people come to her with lavish requests before, some even based on sheer mockery and presumption, so it was not entirely impossible that this little one was just trying to act sassy around her for her own amusement.
Slowly motioning towards Artemis, Cruella fixated her gaze on her features. Like she had thought, she had this boyish air to her. Firm shoulders, strong cheeks, intense eyes. Not too developed in her chest area either. By all accounts, Artemis came off as being slightly flat, whih rather seemed adequate for what she was looking for, even if it still felt peculiar to Cruella. She did preparations for plays, not...actual life transformations.
Rubbing her chin, her eyes blinked repeatedly while being locked in the blonde girl, a sigh escaping the aged starlet's lips. "Should you not be looking for a doctor regarding that, my dear? I am sure I can teach anything, but I believe you die with what you're born with, darling." she declared, taking a puff of her cigarette. "And you happen to be?"

Artemis's eyes widened when she realized what her request sounded like. She almost groaned when Cruella responded back by telling her she should look for a doctor. "No! That's not what I meant! I mean it sort of was but let me explain." Fantastic, now she was rambling on and on. Pausing Arty took a breath and calmed her mind before continuing. "Look, I'm perfectly fine being a girl. I just want to dress like a boy because I want to see the world from a different perspective. I can't do that now without someone recognizing me. I just want to have some fun and challenge myself in learning how to successfully pull it off." She was really hoping the words were coming out clearer than they sounded to her. However for someone who seemed to be utterly bored, she could have sworn Cruella was examining her. At this point Artemis couldn't help but laugh at how crazy this situation was becoming. She blinked in surprise as Cruella asked for her name. "Oh, it's Artemis Kesley."

Cruella tapped her chin in an almost rhythmic manner, her eyebrows raised while she stared down at Artemis, taking in a bit more of her physical appearance. She did not know why, but part of her assumed it was entirely possible to do as the girl had instructed. She looked manly enough, at least in Cruella's eyes. At least she was a curious little individual who could pass as a boy yet to hit his puberty. Yes, that was manageable.
The former starlet's eyes lit up upon the mention of the Kesley surname. It was something rather familiar, far too familiar. Yes, she had once had a bitter struggle against a woman in a competition. She knew how to move and how to adapt, giving Cruella a run for her money. More than a run, seeing how the judges had placed her second. She never lost. Part of her wanted to annihalate the other woman, but she knew better. Turned out she did marry a man with the Kesley name...so why was the daughter looking for her now?
"Hmm..." she murmured, trying to hide her inner frustration before looking down at the girl. "I suppose you're repulsive enough to turn into a man. What say we make this little project work? For the sake of experimentation, after all. Ugly ones should have a means of adapting." she confessed with a shrug.

As cruella tapped her chin staring her down, Artemis tried to keep a neutral expression. She'd heard stories about Ms. De Vil's personality, but had opted to give the woman the benefit of the doubt. She now realized this was way too kind of a thing to do on her part. "Hmm..." she murmured, looking down at Artemis. "I suppose you're repulsive enough to turn into a man. What say we make this little project work? For the sake of experimentation, after all. Ugly ones should have a means of adapting." she confessed with a shrug.
"Ouch." Artemis muttered. Cruella certainly didn't mince words at all. While she didn't personally care too much about her appearance, it stung a little. "You've really got a way with words there." She said sarcastically under her breath. She wasn't sure if she should take Cruella's comment about her appearance to heart, this was a woman who was dressed in a ridiculous fur coat and with crazy hair. Had it always looked like that? Or had Cruella decided to change it when she lost her ability to say nice things?

Walking closer to the young blonde, Cruella tilted her head to the side, frowning ever so slightly while eyeing her down once more. Yes, it was possible to work with her well enough. Her stature was flexible enough to make her look like a passable male boy, especially if she had not developed too much during puberty. Part of her truly could not believe she was going to go along with this, but also felt rather fascinated at the thrill of pulling out something as bold as this. One could call it a new form of 'method acting'. From vocal and dancing coach to a transvestite coach. Sounded...predictable.
"Alright, dear, this is what we'll do." she said with a raised eyebrow, taking long and deep puff out of her cigarette while walking around the girl, her frown softening. "I will require you to go on and work in your arms and shoulders. Carry heavy things, exercise them. Get built up. Cosmetic wise I can do things just fine. I do not supposed you wish for me to cut your hair?" she asked, rubbing her own chin while looking at her golden locks, curiosity tearing through her upon the sight of getting to work on them. "I will also probably need some bandages for this..." she mused to herself with mild curiosity.
Her eyes rose up to focus on the girl's for a bit, a slow nod signaling Cruella was ready to continue talking. "It goes without saying that for the record, I know nothing of this. Tell anyone otherwise and I will deny it and have you shipped off to some mine, darling." she said rather casually as she turned her back.

The fact that this woman was even considering this was still slightly amusing to Artemis. She nodded her head at Cruella's instructions. Something told her this was going to be far more difficult than she had initially thought. Regardless she had made the decision and she was going to stick with it, no matter the struggle. Was it her imagination or was the older woman almost getting some kind of excitement out of this prospect? As strange as it sounded, Artemis was actually a little bit excited to see what was going to happen. The thought of learning how to pull this off, of playing a part and adapting as she went, it was oddly appealing. She had wanted a challenge and if she was going to play the part that would require sacrifice. At the prospect of cutting her hair Artemis hesitated before shaking her head. "No, I'd rather not cut it. I can put it up in a tight bun and secure it. I'll just wear a hat to help provide coverage."
A small laugh escaped her lips at Cruella's warning. "I understand completely." She raised an eyebrow and crossed her arms at the comment about the mine. "Oh really?" She asked semi curious. How the woman would manage to do ship her off to a mine was a mystery, but it was within the realm of possibility. Ms. De Vil would more than likely find a way.

Cruella could not help but smile a bit at herself, her head tilting back while she imagined just how she would dress up this young, rebellious youth. The main problem would be to hide her more feminine assets, but that was entirely manageable, come to think of it. She'd just have to wrap some bandages on the girl's torso and waist to hide her curvy features. Not impossible at all.
"Yes, I will. I have money, remember?" she retorted, staring forward with a scowl before rolling her eyes and making her way forward, way back up to the stage, amusement planted in her expression while looking around. Yes, this felt like a true challenge, especially if the girl was to play along. "Be here tomorrow early in the morning. Our training will be intense." she assured, shrugging as she lit yet another cigarette.
Yes, this was truly going to be one for the ages.
