Anita had been sent by Phillip to go get more blankets from the textile mill for any people they'd harbor or have to attend to at the hospital. Problem was, Anita didn't go to the area at all. Ever. And she honestly wasn't sure where she was going.
"Is it this way?" she thought looking around at an array of buildings and tall stacks that pierced the darkening sky. It looked enough like a factory to her, and not knowing that it was actually a brewery, she started walking towards it. Although the closer she got, the more boarded-up it appeared. Almost like it had been abandoned. "This can't be it," Anita huffed under her breath as she looked around, a little worried now that it was getting enormously cold and windy. "Now I got myself lost."
She wrapped her arms around her shoulders, her teeth chattering as her body shivered from the dropped temperature. The sky above had grown significantly darker and the air a lot thicker than normal. Not to mention a cold, acute wind was whipping around her legs. Anita felt herself getting scared at that point. She hadn't been in many storms, but she didn't need to know much to figure out that she was in trouble.
And unfortunately, all alone right now.
She looked around the building, trying to find a way in as the sky started to open up and rain fell down on top of her and around her. There were a few boards that had been pried open from some previous intruder trying to get in through a window by the staircase, creating an entryway big enough for her to slip inside. I can just wait out the storm here, she thought, the worry washing over her like the rain now soaking her hair and clothes as she approached the hole. Moving aside another one of the boards that had come loose, she ducked down and entered the building.
All around her were massive boil kettles and lauter tuns sitting amidst dust and grime from perhaps years of unuse. Most of the interior space near where she had entered was open and devoid of many objects except for a few tables or chairs here and there. It was cold, but the thick walls at least kept out the winds and made it more of an inviting alternative than to outside where the storm continued to grow worse.
"Phillyyyy!" she cried out loud as she clung to her wet clothes with her hands, her gaze focused on the scene through the hole she had entered where the rain continued to pound against the pavement while dirt and debris whipped by on the high winds. It made the abandoned building she was in echo and whistle all around her, like some scary ghost from a play she had once participated in. The sound was anything but comforting, leaving her all alone and frightened in a place she didn't even know where she was. And all she really wanted right now was to be near her roommate where she knew it was safe.
