"You know me, luv, the only books that are fun to read are the ones like yours." he teased.
Her smutty little novels, where she drew inspiration from things he had said or done. Some things were obviously made up, but others were dead on accurate, almost scarily so. He teased her about it being wistful thinking that she would be one of his lovers and that it didn't just have to be fantasy for her. However, after their last run in with alcohol, he was left rather confused. She said she didn't want him every time he made a pass. However, liquor her up just right and she was all but wanton and willing in his bed. Then she got angry when he turns her down after being told no so many times. He picked up a dry blanket from his footlocker and draped it over the both of them.

Eliza sighed as she rolled her eyes about the tease. How could he not love her novels? In her recent ones he served more than once as protagonist and indeed turned out to even be a loved one by readers. Well, at least loved enough to not have people complain or really hate the character she had turned her flatmate into in the books. Given though most she wrote about John was true and quite accurate. Only some circumstances and people got triggered every now and then. Surely nobody would want to get surprised by reading about their naughty and wicked actions.
"Oh you! Of course you like my books. Lately they are all about you! Well some more, some less of obviously but still you as a character managed to at least have a cameo when you are not the main character. You sneaky muse."
Saying the last she chuckled and pinched his cheek. Just what would she do without him? Definitely especially her books would have a huge loss of input but actually what would pain her more was the loss of her biggest inspiration. Eliza surely had no idea how he did it but John always knew how to inspire and entertain her. With him around she didn´t only feel secure enough to be herself and be free in every way she could think of but also had often enough quite the fun. Even now when all they really did was a little bit of chatting while just sitting there covered nicely by a blanket to get warm.
Indeed though after a few minutes she got too warm and decided to get rid of the wrong seasoned night gown. In her opinion it was rather the blanket that was the nicer version to keep comfortably warm. Well, the blanket and her friend right next to her.
"Say, what do you like to read most in my books?"

"See? I'd have to be a nutter not to like them when they're about me," he teased. "Only shows how much you pay attention if you can get the details of my arse down to a letter."
He gave a brow waggle over that along with a confident smirk. It was followed by a drink of his scotch. They weren't hitting the drink as hard as they had last time. He supposed he could be grateful for that. No wriggling little Elizabeth in his bed trying to get him to do something she might regret later. Because he didn't think he would regret sleeping with her, unless that is, it led to her leaving. Then he would regret it. Elizabeth was the only person to put up with him and his bullshit for so long.
But then she had to ask what he liked the best about her books. Attention to detail was one thing, but the honest answer was because it was her work. He liked it simply because she wrote it. Her art and what she was leaving for everyone to be remembered by way down the line. That she had fun with her work, even when she was muttering at her typewriter and working late at night, like a woman possessed.
"Your hard work," he replied.

Eliza had to laugh really hard about his remark. Indeed if there was someone knowing how to make her actually happy and honestly laugh then it was him. "Glad I got that right." After more than a solid minute of giggling she took a few deep breaths to calm down and once she did, she felt the sudden need to pay the liquor some attention as well. Letting the blanket fall off her shoulders for a better freedom of moving she quickly grabed her glass. As she began drinking just after, she suddenly felt the need to not stop after taking just a sip, but empty her glass all at once and therefore drinking way more and way too fast than what would be good for her. It wasn´t like the scotch all of a sudden was the best liquid she had every had in her life and got addicted out of nowhere. For her there surely was something tastier out there yet there was the need to get her throat filled with that alcohol fast and much. Or was it maybe just the effect that would be caused on her body she seeked?
Shaking her head about the thought she did have to admit though that now she felt even more comfortable. However the main reason for that was Johns answer to her latest question. With blushing cheeks she gave him an honest emotionally touched look while her hands reached out to stroke over his face. "Awh come here you." Not giving him much time to prevent her from doing so, she pulled him in for a kiss on his cheek. Yet as she was already so close to him, his lips as well got some attention before she slowly backed off, even if it was only minorily.
"I´m really glad that I have sweetheart, you know that? Not only as a muse or flatmate I mean but as a friend. Surely knocking on your door back then was the best thing I have ever done. Well of course besides moving in with you obviously."

She downed the glass of scotch as if she were taking a shot. And then, when she went to kiss him, all he had to do was turn his head to the side just a smidgen and they would be right back where they were before the storm had even started. It took some will power not to do that. Simply because Elizabeth was giving mixed signals. She said no when he flirted, but then was very aggressively flirty and not to mention touchy feely.
"I'm glad you think so luv," he said. "I'm lucky to have you."
