As the hurricane had calmed down just enough to give Elizabeth a proper chance to get home she had immediately taken it. So there she was, completely soaking wet and not helping it very much by as well sobbing quite a lot. Not only had she failed in giving her flatmate his beloved coat back in time before the hurricane had hit but as well she couldn´t even find him at all. Being worried sick and fearing the worst she moved inside the flat to hang up the coat on the wardrobe and to get rid of at least the wet dress and shoes of hers. If John as well wasn´t home she would get out again to search for him. However first she had to dry and warm herself up. A sick Eliza surely was no help to anyone. Wiping away her tears and some rain drops with the next best thing she was able to grab, which happened to be a blanket, she went further inside the apartment.

John had headed home as soon as there was a break in the storm, jumping from building to building, luckily by heading through the buildings until he got to his flat. He headed up the stairs, glad that there wasn't any flooding. The planks he had nailed over the windows would keep his and Elizabeth's things dry. When he made it inside, he found that Elizabeth had already beaten him there. She was shaking and crying and wet, bundling herself up with a blanket. The sight of her in that state nearly broke his heart.
"Oh luv," he breathed. "You're in shambles, look at you."

When Eliza heard Johns voice she immediately turned around and brightened up. He was alive and at home. Anything else didnt matter to her in that very moment. With the blanket still around her she just stared at her friend for a moment with a bright smile until she started to suddenly cry again. This time however it were tears of joy and happyness. "John!" Screaming his name she ran right towards him only to glomb and kiss him on his lips barely seconds later.

He barely had a chance to get in a word after that before he got an armful of Elizabeth as well as a mouthful. Her lips stole his own breath and she held him close, as if terrified she would lose him. Just how many more times would this woman tempt him? He broke the kiss, pulling back so he could look at her. Wet, cold but alive and healthy. He supposed they could have been worse off.
"Are you alright?" he asked. "Not hurt?"
They both needed to change. For once he wouldn't even complain if they had to scoot their beds together to share body heat. He was chilled to the bone. They had been lucky. The storm was going to leave debris everywhere for the next few weeks. Crime was going to go up because police were going to be in shambles. He knew he wanted to keep her within his sight to make sure she was safe.

Eliza started to blush right away as John broke the kiss and backed off. Just what had gotten into her? It should be understandable that she was more than happy to see him more or less alright but why kiss him when she could have just simply hugged him for example?
"S-Sorry." She said rather whispering than in a normal tone. Pulling up the blanket again, which had fallen down the moment she had opened her arms to hug her friend, she took some deep breaths to calm herself down.
"I am alright. Not hurt or anything besides being quite soaked all over. What about you though? Are you alright? I am so very sorry sweetheart. I knew I promised I would fix your coat and get it back to you on time but I completely failed you. I'm so sorry for causing you even more trouble when the hurricane already brought enough chaos."

"Elizabeth it's alright luv," he reassured her. "I was worried about you too. As for my coat, I'm glad you had it. It might have kept you a touch drier."
His button up was soaked through, but both of them were dripping wet. His coat, though hung up, looked wet. He hoped she wore it to protect herself a little better against the elements. Though on her, she might as well as have been drowning in the fabric. His frame was larger than hers. He almost wanted to suggest she take a warm bath, but they had been dealing with a lot of water as of late.
"Not to sound too forward, but you do need to change." he said. "You'll catch your death in those clothes."

As John gave his advive Eliza just nodded and stared at him. Should she hug him for his previous kind words or was that again too much? Not only did he forgive her flooishness, but he even was apparently glad she had the coat in order to have been a possible help to her. Surely he knew how to move her. Therefore the brunette just could resist to hug her friend tightly once again before she walked into her room to change.
Some minutes later she returned to the living room with fresh lingerie and a knee long nightgown, made out of wool and actually rather for cold winter nights. If she eventually would feel too hot she surely could just get right of the gown again right? What was the worst to happen anyways? However suddenly she remembered the last time she undressed with her flatmate close by and went right back to blushing.

John shook his head fondly as Elizabeth hugged him. He smoothed a hand through her hair. He then shooed her over to her dresser to grab her clothes. Only once she was in the bedroom changing did he start to undo his tie. It was lip in his hands, like fighting to take a rope off his neck, but he managed to free himself. He hung it near the window so it could dry. His shirt stuck to him like a second skin, but that too was peeled away and hung to dry.
When Elizabeth came out of the room, he could only think of how warm she must have been out of the wet clothes. He smiled before exchanging places with her in the bedroom. A pair of warm pants and a shirt would have to do. He normally went shirtless in bed, but not tonight. Not when his skin was clammy and cold. After hanging up his pants, he grabbed the bottle he and Elizabeth had been working on before the storm. Something to put some fire in their bellies as the Americans put it.
"Care for a drink, luv?" he asked.

Both of them being now dressed in something definitely warmer than before surely made Eliza be relieved. Now all they had to do was to keep any sickness away from them and wait for the hurricane to pass by for good. And what better way would there to be than drinking with your best friend? At least that was what Elizabeth thought as she saw John with the bottle from some nights before. "With you? Always! Now lets get truly comfortable sweetheart."
With the agreeement being done she went once again right into the males room and sat down on his bed.

John chuckled. He went to the cabinets and brought out two glasses, pouring them each one. He passed one over to her. But he wasn't done. He hadn't eaten anything since the storm, so he grabbed the loaf of bread and the cheese wheel from the fridge. A knife would have to do to cut but he took a seat on his bed. His drink sat on his nightstand as he cut a few slices for the both of them.
"We best eat something this time." he told her. "No drinking on an empty stomach."

Eliza gladly took her filled glass only to put it down on the floor right next to the bed. She just had to giggle while John eventually sat down as well and was cutting the bred and cheese. "Oh dear you sure know how to read my mind. Something to eat surely does us good either way though if I remember right last time we drank we had our fun either way." Finishing her last sentence with a chuckle she tried to push the naughty part of this memory away and moved closer to John so they sat shoulder to shoulder.
Focusing on the making of their next meal a gentle smile appeared on the females face. Somehow in that very moment she had to think back to what and especially she left behind. Like her almost fiancee for example. "Strange. If you would add some candle light around us and exchange the location to a stable I would have a deja vu of my last date. Oh my how things change."

Constantine gave her a considering look. The last time she had been in his bed, they had almost gone too far too fast. He certainly had to be careful about how much he refilled her glass this time. He would't let her say he forced her to sleep with him with undue influence of alcohol. But he didn't want to hurt her either, funny coming from the guy who had as many one night stands as she had novels. He offered her a piece of bread with a slice of cheese on it. It wasn't a five star meal, but the best they could do until the storm blew over them completely. They were likely going to face some power outages and some debris that would hinder things for a while.
"It's absolute monkeys outside. Where did you stay until it blew over?"
(it's monkeys outside is slang for the weather being bad)

Eliza thanked John right away as she eventually got her nice piece of a meal and ate it right away. Surely she had been quite hungry. The only reason she just recently discovered it was that her worrying had overwhelmed her and hid away most needs. After her stomach was satisfied for the moment she took a sip from her glass and layed her head on her flatmates shoulder. A pillow to rest on obviously would have been a softer option but the needed warmth of John was much more needed and wanted. "I was at a few places but most of the time I was forced to take shelter at the train station. What about you?"

"At the University." he replied.
He had expected to run into other people. It was a university after all. Surely there had to have been some classes going on or something. But it had been eerily quiet, not a soul around. As if the entire school had been abandoned, except for him. If that hadn't bothered him, he didn't know what did. Needless to say, he was happy to be home. He looked down at Elizabeth when she settled herself down against him.
"Still cold?" he asked.

"The university?" Eliza repeated with a chuckle. Surely the two of them had quite the unexpected shelters. All that mattered though was they were obviously both fine and hadnt been all by themselves during the hurricane. At least the brunette assumed so since at the university surely there must have been quite some people taken off guard by the heavy storm. "Well I hope you took your chance and learned something while you were stuck. Hope there was at least one advantage of your shelter. I definitely can say that besides the benches, people and solid walls around the train station wasnt too usefull. Oh no wait, I forgot the restrooms." The last she said half serious, half as a joke as she started laughing. At least she hadnt been forced to share a restroom like her two storm companions.
Calming down again she picked up John new question and rubbed her head against his shoulder as a gesture of gentle cuddling. "Maybe, maybe not."
