just because my fathers runs the city doesn't mean I'm not in charge.

Charlotte received a phone call at 2 o'clock in the afternoon on a Friday. It had been Cale one of the owners of the speakeasy Jive and Thrive. He had told her that his usual entertainer had quit suddenly and had run away with her boyfriend and he needed someone to preform.
Years ago Cale had worked as muscle for her father so he knew she could sing and he wanted to know if she was willing to come and sing. He immediately promised her one third more pay then average because of the short notice and they could talk more later. She accepted immediately. She went and told her father were she would be for the night and he told her to not forget her new driver Dean and that she should remember to have fun.
She then went and called Miss De Villa letting her know what was happening. While Charlotte was confident in her abilities she was nervous she had never sung in front of anyone before like this. So she decided that if Cruella was there she could treat it as a rehearsal of some kind.
At four she got Dean and a bag with her outfit and make up to get there early so she could get ready in the back.
Cale greeted her and lead her to the back stage area so she could start getting ready. He told her that they would be starting her set in about an hour and if she needed more time to just let them know.
Charlotte took a breath and nodded. Cale promised that only the musicians, him, Vanessa, Cruella, her father and her sister would be allowed back here and that the other patrons wouldn't disturb her.

Anita gently applied the final touches of her make-up to her face and did a quick once-over of herself in the mirror. She had to look stunning after all: she was going on a date with Philly!
Er-well... More like she was accompanying him as his roommate for a regular night out at the club. But he didn't have to know what she was thinking the whole time. And if she dolled herself up enough, maybe he'd take some notice of her and buy her a drink.
Glancing down at her dress and picking off a few stray reddish-blonde hairs, she hummed to herself in a cheerful tune. If her mother saw her dress right now, she would probably gasp and fling a coat over her: the red dress was low-cut in the back, with beads dangling off the front in layers down the silky fabric. It wasn't something a 15 year-old would normally be allowed to wear, but she wasn't an ordinary teenager - actress privileges and all.
Putting on a charming, yet mischievous smile, she ran her fingers through her curls to fluff them up a bit before exiting the bathroom and skipping into the living space of their shared apartment.
"Phillyyyyyy!!" She called out, racing towards her shoes she had laid out earlier. Putting them on, she started to talk in a sing-song voice as her thoughts drifted off to what kind of fun she was about to have. "Are you ready to go yet?"

The Jive and Thrive was what the sign had read when she looked up. Word on the street had been that this was a good joint for some music. Music, she thought to herself as her face beamed, in here is real music! Real jazz!
Millie could barely contain her excitement as the tassels from her dress swayed uncontrollably. The acid green silk hugged her waistline and showed the tops of her cleavage, but she didn't mind. It was the most modest thing that Holli could find in her closet - at least that's what her telegram had said - and it was modern. She burst into through the doors and searched for a seat.

Phillip let out a sigh. Did he seriously only had ONE single tie of color besides quite the variation of black ties along with a few white and grey ones? As his foster sister, well sort of, called for him at least he had a reason not to waste any more time one something stupid like picking the tie most complimenting the male for the night. Why did he even bother thinking about his pick when he disliked it so much in the first place? Oh right, Miss Marcello! Better make a good impression at the club, just in case.
"It´s fine Anita I can hear you very well, no need to be so loud. Now if you are ready too let´s go to have some special fun tonight shall we?" The doctor said friendly yet almost as a tease when he met up with the teenager just in fron of the entrance door of their apartment. Barely a minute later the two of them already were on their way outside the apartment building and into the club. Eventually they arrived some minutes later at the entrance. However they couldn´t get in right away just yet since some people were in front of them trying to get inside as well. On the outside Phillip seemed rather relaxed, at most excited about a fun night was an incredible lady right at his arm. However said lady made him some nervous inside of him since he wasn´t sure if she was let into the club easily, if not at all.

Anita gripped her escort's arm, her face lit up as she waited in line at the entrance to the club. "The Jive and Thrive!" she squealed. "I can't wait to hear what kind of music is gonna be played... Do you think it'll be ragtime, or a romantic melody - maybe even jazz music! Oh I hope it's jazz..." She couldn't stop dreaming about all the different things that might be hidden inside the Jive & Thrive that night. So much so, that she didn't notice that the man outside that was allowing those in line to enter was now holding his arm in front of her, blocking her path.
"Sorry, Miss," the burly man said, "but I'm afraid only adults are allowed in here."
Anita was taken back for a moment, not quite hearing what he had said until it finally dawned on her. She scrunched her nose for a few seconds before extending her lips in a dramatic pout and looked up at the man with a longing face.
"I'm sorry, Sir," she said in a very apologetic voice as she looked at him under her long eyelashes. "It's just that I adore music so much, and I admire Miss Marcello's voice! This is my one chance to hear her sing live for the first time ever." She let a fake tear fall from her eye as she brushed it away with a single finger after a heavy sigh. "Perhaps I was too naive to think I'd be able to live out a lifelong dream."
The man looked over at Phillip and then back at the young girl on his arm before sighing himself and moving to the side to allow them room to pass. "Alright," he said, gesturing for them to go in. "But keep her away from the bar, will you?" He addressed Phillip as they walked past.
Anita giggled to herself, mighty proud of her performance. They always come around at some point, she thought as she fluttered her eyelashes at the men she passed by. She continued to grip Phillip's arm, nearly bouncing from the excitement.
"Sorry about the hold up," she said with a smile as she glanced around their surroundings. The club was packed with bright lights and laughter everywhere. The whole atmosphere was so lively and fun, and now she was here!

Post by Aria Marcello on Jun 13, 2017 19:14:42 GMT -6
Aria walked into The Jive & Thrive, her green eyes immediately scanning the area. There were a lot of people here waiting to see Charlotte sing. A lot more than she had hoped to be here. She took another step into the joint and when she did she felt a good couple of eyes look towards her. Some of the looks were in awe, surprise, disgust, and some of them a bit sexual too. Looks she got used to being Korso's daughter. Thankfully she had some of her father's men here. That meant nobody would try anything. But if they did, Aria was prepared. Korso had told her to keep a small gun hidden in her pantyhose just in case. He wasn't there yet, but she knew he wouldn't miss this for a second. Aria walked to someone who was putting jackets away and took off hers and gave it to the man. This revealed her beautiful tan dress that had lots of fringe on it. The fringe was made out of countless pearls. Along with this she had on gloves on and light pink heels to give the outfit a bit of color. She wore the expensive piece with beauty. It also showed she was ready for any dancing that was going to happen. And like usual her makeup was pretty natural except for the red lipstick, heavy mascara, and the light eyeshadow. Which was her signature look that she wore very well. Her hair was curlier than normal, but she kept it down with a nice simple little headpiece. Aria then walked to a table that was reserved for her and sat down as a waiter came and gave her a glass of champagne. She immediately thanked him before taking a sip and waiting patiently for her sister. Thankfully she told Charlotte that she would only see her when she came out on stage. She was going to be first person she was going to see to help calm any nerves she had. This was her plan as her little sister. (For her dress click here )

Post by Cruella de Vil on Jun 14, 2017 15:31:14 GMT -6
Cruella had arrived early, as she usually did. Above anything, she had grown to adore being in the seats closer to the stage, to take a good eye at the performers in any sort of spectacle. For the aging star, it was the perfect way to see what made and broke them. The way a performer reacted to their audience's reaction usually told if they could handle the pressures of show business or not. Charlotte had been her project for quite a while now, and she wanted to be there to make sure all her work would pay off. It was not just about Charlotte's success, but also about Cruella's own merits as a vocal and dance coach. She was confident of course, but she still wished to be there. After all, what master did not watch their pupil's most important moment?
A large round glass of gin placed in the palm of her left hand as the right one maneuvered her trademark cigarette, Cruella de Vil coldly glanced around, a frown stamped on her face while her eyes scanned the entire area and people. She had always been known for her attitude, and truly liked being an intimidating force for those around her, especially the younger ones. They respected and admired her in this world, so she liked being truly superior in her status while backing it up.
The corner of her eye caught a glimpse of a familiar face sitting by, amusing her in the slightest. Of course little Aria Marcello would have to be present to witness her beloved sister gracing the stage. Well, the little dove would have to learn that she was not the only one with responsibilites towards Charlotte in this particular setting.
Her frown suddenly curving up into an unusual smile, Cruella stood up, walking to Aria with her beverage still in hand before being mere inches away from the mob princess and greeting her in a usual manner. "Lovely dress."

Many men, and hopefully some women were staring at her. Was it her hair again? Or perhaps they admired the hat that covered the pitiful attempt for a bob that was growing to be so popular nowadays. Being noticed by a crowd was just so strange for Millie, considering where she had come from originally. The crowd's attention must have been towards some other flapper that was around her. Black hair, bright green eyes, endless freckles, and a dress littered with pearls... if that didn't seem like perfection, then what was? She had seen plenty of other people that stood out in the small jazz bar. There was a tall, lanky woman that reminded her way too much of the shrewd landlady at the Hotel Aquila, except she looked much harsher. The woman walked over towards the flapper she had seen earlier. She wanted to go over there and talk, but there were some men around the table the black-haired girl was at. Millie covered her chest and found a stray table where she could sit. (BTW, her dress. Imagine this with a lower neckline)

Post by Korso Marcello on Jun 15, 2017 19:49:21 GMT -6
So many faces...most happy...others...who knows?
But today, Korso was puckering his cigar with delight. He peeked over the window of his car, eyeing a freshly made sign, one that featured his first daughter's name: Charlotte Marcello, the headlining singer at The Jive & Thrive.
One of his men approached his door, opened it, and told him the coast was clear. Korso stepped out the back of the car, joined two other men, who then followed him inside. His guy in front of him pushed (even shoved) everyone out of the way, clearing a path from the door to the reserved front table. If his daughter was singing no other seat would do.
Through the sea of stunned onlookers, he spotted his youngest daughter, Aria. Beautiful, as usual, he thought. He tipped his hat in her direction, then proceeded to his seat.
With his men standing at their posts, Korso smiled toward the stage. His attendance would be a surprise to his daughter, but he knew she was going to great...well...he expected her to be great.
A lot of time and money's been spent on developing her talent. I doubt I'll be disappointed.
With a puff of his cigar, Korso patiently awaited Charlotte's appearance.

Charlotte breathed calmly in through her nose and out through her mouth as she sat at the vanity and mirror looking at herself in the mirror. Her make up was perfect, her lips in a dark red lipstick in the perfect cupids bow, her eyes had the intense smoky eye making her green eyes visible from across the room, her blush was impeccable, and her hair was perfect with her sparkling head band. here's her dress
She stood and moved to the entrance of the stage. She stepped out onto the dark stage the musicians all in place as she took her own at the microphone. Her purple dress swishing around her knees with the sparkling crystal and pearls. Charlotte fixed a smile onto her face knowing that when the lights came on they would blind her for a moment and she didn't want to look ridiculous and squint out into the audience. Her eyes adjusted to the lights and the first thing she saw was what appeared to be a mass of people. Word of her performance had gotten around quickly. Some of these people were here because of curiosity, some out of respect for her father or to get on his good side, and others were hopping she would fall on her face and disappoint her father. Then she spotted some 'friendly' faces. Cruella was right up front waiting to critique her performance just like always. This surprisingly calmed Charlotte. It was good to know somethings wouldn't change. Her father was also right up front. This surprised her. This was a last minute performance and her father couldn't go many places without his people checking it out to make sure it was safe. The fact that he had come was wonderful. And then there was Aria. Her sweet little sister. Her being here was the most calming. She remembered that it was singing to Aria as a baby that inspired her father to get her singing lessons. "Good evening everyone." Charlotte greeted the crowed with a sweet smile, her voice low and calm not displaying any of her nerves. "I'm Charlotte Marcello and without further delay." She signaled for the band to start playing

Phillip serious troubles not to burst out into laughter or even only smile at how easily Anita wrapped the burly man around her finger. That´s his girl. Well not literally of course. Rather in a way as a big brother would be proud of the skills of his little sister. After the females perfect performance was finished with a great success, Phillip assured the burly man that he would keep Anita away from the bar. Not that he needed to be reminded or ordered to do that. He would watch out for his flatmate anyways. For sure he neither wanted her to get drunk enough to make a whicked move on him, neither if not less he wanted that other guys used a drunk or even only tipsy Anita to have some "fun".
As the "pair" eventually was inside the club Phillip just had to smirk at the still quite very excited teenager. "Sugar if I wouldn´t already know that you are a born actress, now definitely would have been the time to let me know. Anyways you can calm down now though. We made it inside now all we have left to do is enjoying the show and have fun. Now lets get ourselves something to drink before the performance starts." Said and done after only a few minutes, the doctor and the actress went to get themselves nice seats in about the middle of the room to have a fair view of the show to come but as well weren´t in the way of the big people of name which were sure to come. It wasn´t that much of an surprise that soon enough Phillip didn´t only spot Charlottes sister but as well the big boss himself sitting right in the first row. The "crown princess" sure knew how to bring people together and even more how to entertain them, as the doctor got to see quite quickly as she started off with her first song.

The lights came up on the stage to reveal the main attraction: a young girl who was just a beautiful as the girl in the pearls. She was like one of those porcelain dolls Millie had seen in a magazine from FAO Schwarz. Her features fit one of the ones she had seen to a tea. Big green eyes, dark red lips, and a body that seemed to be fashioned by a big business executive. Truly, Charlotte was a modern marvel.
Charlotte Marcello... the redhead whispered, getting used to how the name sounded on her lips. She rested her head on one of her hands and stared at the jazz singer. Did she envy her or love her? That was the question on her troubled mind. However, she realized what she was doing and shot straight up. Although this town seemed much more lenient about her preferences than her hometown in the Bible Belt, it still felt quite strange being the only woman staring at her.
In the meantime, she just bopped her head along to the new, innovative music that played in the club. She wasn't one to pay much attention to details, but the songs had a similar gist to them. They talked about either love or hardships of the guilty ones. Love was completely understandable, but the first two songs were strange in concept. Holli had mentioned something about a mob in passing, but she probably didn't pay much attention to it as she could have. If celebrating sin was a major part of this city, then there was much more for this young girl to stick her nose into, or at least learn about in the papers.
