I'm alive, a revolution lies inside

Edna “Eddie” Wayne marched with purpose up the steps and to the doors of the hospital, pausing just outside to adjust her newsie cap and brush lint off her pleated mint green dress. She’d recently bought it and thought it looked marvelous, especially with silver flats. Once done she marched into the hospital and went to go find the morgue. Her client’s husband had been a victim of an apparent mugging, though it was fishy, and had gone to Eddie because nobody else would take the case. Regardless of reasons, Eddie was willing to go for it. Any chance she could to make a name for herself, she’d take.
It wasn’t long though before she got lost and had to stop and look for any signs or something to tell her where she was. Curse not being used to new cities and their hospitals! Not finding any signs Eddie waited for someone to come along and help her out. She needed the morgue. That body wasn’t going to inspect itself!

Phillip was just looking through the documents of his last patient as he walked through the halls to get to the cantine so he finally would get something proper to eat that day. His shift has already been going on for quite some hours but besides a sip of water or coffee every now and then he hadn´t got anything going down his throat besides his breakfast. Just whenever he thought he would have more than a minute of time something came up or simply patients took way more of his time than expected. However now finally he got just about enough time to not only treat himself with a nice meal but as well take his time with eating it. Surely that was rare these days. However as he was only about a short 2 minute walk away from the cantine, he passed quite some eye catching woman. Yet it was quite obvious that this beautiful ginger didn´t belong there. "Excuse me miss, may I ask what you are doing here?"

Eddie turned with a relieved sigh to the doctor-who looked hassled and hungry ,she noticed idly- and gave a charming smile. "Well mister I'm just trying to find my way to the morgue, I have a client whose husband died in a suspicious way and well I just gotta know who done the man in, right?" she paused and tapped her head and rolled her eyes. "Where are my manners?" The little lady stuck her hand out to the doctor. "I'm Edna Wayne. But everyone just calls me Eddie, see? I'm a private eyelash-slang for female detective" she gave a soft musical laugh. "I think it's funny, don't you?"

The young doctor smirked at the gingers reason to be in the hosptial. For sure that was uncommon to have someone physically completly healthy be at this place. But be here for a morgue? Well that surely was absolutely new for him. "Pleasured to meet you Miss Wayne. Sadly though I need to tell you that there is no way that me or anyone else is allowed to lead you to any morgue unless you are blood related to the person or have been married. Of course if you bring in officals from the police however there would be a way." That woman surely had some funny ideas. Ignoring her question at first Phillip didn´t loose any more time and passed her to continue his walk to the cantine. Just before he took a turn at the end of the corridor however he turned around and winked at her. "The slang indeed is funny and surely fits you Miss Wayne."

Her face grew pink with outrage at the way she was being treated. If she were a man she'd get more respect! She pulled out her detectives badge and the letter from the deceased's wife and marched after him brandishing them. "I have explicit permission from the wife of the deceased to view the body. I am a detective and therefore allowed to view, same as any cop. Now direct me to the morgue mister, so I can do my job. I want to see what type of gun wounds there are, as well as any gunpowder residue. It'll narrow down the type of gun, thus narrowing down the gun store that sold it, thus narrowing down my suspects from the entire city to a few hundred. After that I'll know what gun to look for and follow my other leads" she nodded resolutely to herself and stood firm in the center of the hallway. "Or should I go to your superiors and ask if they can take me to the body? description dropping a few disrespectful doctors of course" she gave another musical laugh but her eyes were hard.

"Calm down little fox." Phillip started off as he raised his hands as in an act of defence. "You could have just showed me the permission and the badge right from the start you know? Or would you trust your life to just anyone who claims to be a doctor? Quite a drastic and exaggerated example I know. But you get the idea. As you police people have your rules, so do we doctors. Feel free to go to the next superior to brag about me whenever you want little fox but if you don´t want to wait for the next person passing by this rather quiet corridor I would advice you to follow me. I as well have a job to do and before I have to head of to the next paatient I would like to have for once a nice lunch."
Even if his rather neutral tone may assume that the doctor was rather looking down at the young female detective and only saw her as some sort of rookie or even child, he actually just wanted to give her some advice and help her out now that he needed to anyways. He was quite sure that the ginger still had to learn a bit about how to communicate with people in a more advanced way but obviously she wasn´t anything near of being stupid or being dump.

Eddie gave an annoyed huff. 'Little Fox'?! Just who did this doctor think he was?! She snorted and tossed her head. "I'd be sneaking down right now if I knew the way. I figured anyone coming might know where it was, and if they were doing it for less than honorable reasons well..." she grinned devilishly. "They'll be shot and I'll know where the morgue is. Simple as that" Eddie scowled but stomped after the doctor. She had no choice but to follow and besides, she was hungry. She'd been sitting down to breakfast when she got the knock on the door from her client. "I wouldn't be 'bragging' about you" she told him grumpily. "I'd be complaining. There's a difference"

Phillip just chuckled as the ginger kept talking. "You are such a smartass little fox." Shaking his head in amusement he started walking again. "I assume you want to get right to the mortuary yes? Do you know about what time your clients husband died and when? Surely would help to find him quicker and spare both of us some time."
Eventually they reached the door to the cantine, the stairs down to the mortuary not too far away. "So, what shall it be little fox. Would you like to be my lunch companion for the day or head straight to buisness?" The male said, leaning against the entrance already, hoping heavily he could at least get a snack. Something told him later on surely he wouldn´t get anything until later. Definitely the young detective would need quite the time. If it wasn´t that he most likely is to miss most of his break he wouldn´t mind that though. At least the vixen was anything but boring.

She almost punched him in the nose but only clenched her fists together tightly. He had no right to talk to her like this! She was a valid detective and an adult, damn it all! "Call me 'little Fox' one more time and see what happens" She ground out, doing her best to keep her temper in check and not get a warning from a cop for shooting in a hospital today.
"His name is Charleston Stone. Aged 54, worked as a butler for a rich family till Korso got his rise to power and then worked as a florist till Aria got her flower shop up and running. Currently worked as a dockworker, until his demise. Died of a shooting Last Night near the Spread Eagle" She delivered promptly. "I'll talk to the workers there next. I know some of them from a previous case" She motioned for him to lead the way. "A sandwich and a coffee for both of us. We'll eat on the way to the Morgue"

"You´re quite cute when you´re angry ya know that?" Phillip truthfully teased her smirking whickedly as he held the entrance door open for the vixen. Even if it most likely wouldn´t seem like that for the woman right now, he still was a gentleman. Well at least sort of. Definitely he could still have worse manners though.
After their short dance of who would be leading the way for now and who was supposed to do what, Phillip eventually just dragged her along inside the cafeteria to grab their lunch. If he had to eat and drink on the way, fine. But doing all of that without entertainment? That surely he wouldn´t allow that easily. If the pretty ginger stole his break, fine but she at least had to make it fun then. Luckily it didn´t take them too long to get them their meal they wanted. Yet still there had been enough time for at least one or two questions. "Sounds like you got a plan. For how long have you been working as a detective? And how on earth did you end wanting to be one in the first place? Can´t really remember to have met any private eyelash before you."

She gave him a cutting glare. At least he opened the door for her. It didn't take long to get their food, for her a ham sandwich with extra mustard and pickle. And a big steaming mug of hot coffee. Could never forget the coffee. She shrugged. "Worked as one on the down low for two years in Los Angeles, then mama found out and pitched a mighty fit and I moved here. Been working here as a detective for a few weeks now" she shrugged and bit into her sandwich. "I like solving things and there's ever so much crime. So I found I was pretty good at figuring out who done it, and would help as an anonymous source for the cops. Tried to be one but...however, anyone can get a detective license. So here we are"
