Cruella barged into the theatre in a rush, her heels vigorously tapping down the steps that lead to the front rows, her almost permanent scowl deepening on her expression while the aging starlet groaned and complained about most things around her. Truly, this was a usual situation for Miss de Vil, but today she was particularly annoyed at the world around her.
If there was something that did not sit well with Cruella at all, it was when her students did not work to deserve her attention. She demanded the best from them, and when she could tell they were wasting her time, things did not go well at all. People back in the day knew she was prone to outbursts of anger and self-centered hubris, but they never really knew what it was to deal with it themselves...not would they want to.
Right now, Cruella was fuming with frustration, waving her arms while spitting out curses and insults at most of the world around her. She did not particularly mind that her assistant, Asami Sato was pretty much next to her at that moment, hearing and witnessing all of her outburst. Looking over her shoulder, Cruella shot a cold glare at the young girl, her frown almost freezing the air around them as he waved her left hand, a cloud of green smoke spreading around the air.
"Sato, send termination letters to Williams, Johannson and Vickers. I am not having those little brats try and make fools out of me. Who do they think they are? I am here giving my heart and soul and they mock my efforts? I'll see them burn in hell first!" she yelled as she sat down on the first seat she saw, sinking down into it. The sensation of the velvet seat pulling her in was relaxing, yet did not help much with the tension she had accumulated.
Inhaling the excessive ammount of nicotine from her large cigarette, Cruella groaned before putting it out for the time being, massaging her own temples. "And get me some brandy, will you, girl? I need to not want to kill someone."

When Cruella stormed in, Asami followed, as was her job, though her walk was far less subdued than her employer. Cruella had been in a dour mood all day after something a few of her other employees had done. Asami was doing her best to calm the woman down, but the damage was done. Williams, Johannson and Vickers had all been fired at the drop of a hat.
"Yes ma'am," she confirmed. "I'll have the letters out within the hour."
It wouldn't take long to have something typed up for the three letters. She wouldn't be as crass as her employer and the letters would be lacking the ballad of treachery that Cruella might have opted to explain their firing. Something along the lines of utter betrayal and how she had poured her soul into those poor girls and they spat in her face. But before that, she stopped at the liquor cabinet that Cruella had in her office and picked up the bottle of brandy. It was the brand she had come to learn that Cruella liked best after a hard day and poured a healthy dose into a glass for her boss.
"Your brandy, Miss de Vil." she said offering the woman the drink.

Eventually Elizabeth got a day off from work and decided to use her first actual free time to start some research for her new book. She still was quite new to the city since she barely lived there for longer than a few weeks so it was obviously about time to get to know the city some better. After the young author already has been at the church as a rather quiet yet cultural start, she decided to continue her little tour at the theatre. As she walked around in the entrance hall everything seemed to be rather quiet and empty. However suddenly the circumstances quite changed. Just when Eliza was about to walk down a corridor at one of the entrance halls ends she first heard and then saw a fancy dresses woman of older age storm right into the theatre hall, soon enough followed by a younger woman.
Following her instincts or rather her curiosity for possible new characters or story lines for her newest book, Eliza sneaked into the hall as well though stayed close to the entrance door to it, watching and listening to the conversation of the two women. You never knew if there was an intriguing dialog to happen right?

Cruella had had enough of her subordinates giving her the run around, and made no qualms as she cruelly let them go, as Asami had realized. This young lady was certainly nice to keep around. She was obedient, dedicated and eager to work. Truly, the girl had little to nothing to live with, but that didn't particularly concern Cruella. She wanted a good worker, and Asami could provide her with such a demand. If she kept this, she would probably find some bonuses, judging by how incompetent her other employees were.
Looking over at her assistant, Cruella sighed and leaned back, still rather nervous before picking up her glass of brandy. The strong odor of the amber colored drink, its silky liquid form dancing around the glass and the aura it radiated would certainly help Cruella. "Hmm, Sato? Massage my temples. I can't do everything around here." she said in her usual arrogant tone as she leaned back, taking a nice, slow sip of her drink, finally starting to calm down. The taste of the brandy stung as it went down her throat, but she enjoyed the feeling. She could really grow hooked on it again.
"I swear, it is as if these fools don't even care anymore. I pay them well, why is it so hard for them to have my materials when I ask them? Foolish fools. I swear." she kept on ranting under her breath. "Now I need a new secretary. Ah..."

"Yes ma'am."
Asami slowly exhaled, trying to keep her temper. She may have inherited a shorter fuse from her father, but she also needed to hold her tongue to keep her job. This was the only thing keeping her from sleeping on the streets. She stepped up behind Cruella and gently rubbed the older woman's temples. She hated the job, but it was better than selling herself on the streets. After she had the money she needed, she could then leave the city behind. That alone was a reassuring thought.
"I can have an ad placed in the papers for a new secretary, if you want." Asami offered.
Might as well if she was going to be writing anyways. A growing list of duties. She would likely be there after the theater closed to finish things up. Pack up the three former employees things, have an errand boy return them, along with their list bit of pay and a letter of termination. All after tending to Cruella until the woman decided to go home.

ELizabeth listened to the conversation carefully, however to her disappointment nothing too interesting was happening. Either she already had missed the spicy part or it would follow later, much later since all the other women seemed to be discussing that they were in search for a new secretary. Yet that made Eliza chuckle a bit. Apparently many people needed secretaries these days. Either that or only bad ones were around. Or of course there were just many too poor job offers for secretaries that even the people in need of such a job would rather work as something different. Or someone different?
Just in case the author noted this down before she would try to move even closer. Yet just when she was making her first step the pen which had just been right in her hand dropped and was now jumping the stairs down until it reached the row where the assumingly elder woman was sitting. With a pale face Eliza was just starring. Should she run away now? Probably was too late already anyways, even if she tried. Should she just try to play it off and approach the women, making an excuse up like asking for direction? Maybe.

Cruella was rolling her eyes as she attempted to relax while Asami tended to her. She had to admit that the girl had gifted and skilled hands, knowing how to massage her just the way she liked it. She, of course, would never acknowledge it, but she appreciated the girl's dedication. She was also more than aware that she seldom, if ever treated Asami with proper care or respect, but those working for her were not paid to be tended like children, so Cruella cared little about formalities or being too kind. She'd pay the girl well and tend to her when needed, so she should be happy for that.
Waving her hand as Asami offered to look for a new secretary, Cruella groaned while trying to relax. "Yes, yes. Thank you for mentioning the obvious. When we're done with this you can go tend to that, Sato. Ugh, I swear, these people are trying to kill me. Me! Can you imagine? What DOES Cruella de Vil have left to live for with people like this?" she questioned with a sigh, sinking on the chair before having her concentration broken.
Narrowing her eyes while she looked at the corner of the room, she noticed a pen close to her and Asami. While her initial instinct was to raise her voice at her assistant for being clumsy, she was quick to realize it could not have come from her. Her scowl deepened as she soon hopped up and looked to the top of the theatre, pointing her glass to the door. "Ever heard it's rude to eavesdrop, you fool!" she said loudly, seeming as if she was going to throw the glass at whoever was on the other side. "At least step inside, rascal!"

"Well, ma'am you do have your other starlets. Miss Elston seemed to be showing potential during your dance recital." Asami pointed out. "And of course your other admirers."
She had to keep the bite of humor out of her voice. Though Cruella had risen and fallen as a star, she still had an eye for talent and could train even the hapless of performers. Not to mention she still had admirers from her younger days. Asami might have said more until a pen rolled into view. Except all of Asami's writing utensils were on the desk, safe from rolling off the table top. It didn't fall from where the desk was either. It rolled towards them. The young woman stopped massaging her boss and quickly stepped between the older woman and the door. Was there an intruder?

Cruella de Vil? Repeating the name in her head Elizabeth wondered why it sounded so oddly familiar yet she couldn´t really find out why yet. Was she the wife of someone famous? An actress? A singer? Just then it clicked inside the brunette and her blue eyes started to sparkle as she stepped out of her shadow and rushed down the stairs towards the two women. "Good lord Cruella de Vil! I can´t believe I actually got to see you in person madame!" It was hard for Eliza having to stop at about a solid meter of distance to both of the women for some formal personal space but after all she indeed was just an intrudor and possibly seen as even a very rude and crazy one.
But now that she had discovered that out of all people it was one of her biggest inspirations for herself being now right in front of her, there was simply no going back for her. "I´m very sorry to interrupt like this but and I definitely did not mean to spy on your conversation but you were like THE big star when I grew up Miss de Vil. You even inspired me to try out my own luck with achieving some fame for myself and our dear home Tennessee."

Cruella had her entire face contorted into an expression of what seemed to be fury and contempt as she had raised her glass of brandy above her head, seemingly ready to throw it and smash it on someone's face as soon as they stepped out of the shadows. She had enough strength for it, at least, she had predicted. What she had not predicted, however, was the sudden burst of excitement coming out of the door in the form of what seemed to be an overly excited young girl.
It was always interesting to meet a fan, especially at times like this, but the girls rush of excitement and joy had shocked Cruella, to say the very least, judging by how she quickly took a step back, her eyes widening as she moved behind Asami, pointing her overly long cigarette at the new young one that had suddenly darted towards them.
Blinking with her back adjusted to a perfect stance, Cruella eventually spoke, her expression returning to normal. "I...see." she mentioned, her eyes falling up and down on the girl's figure as the aged starlet took a deep breath and started moving once again. "Tennesse, eh? My dear, and here I was thinking people had no decent taste back in that place." she mentioned with a slow shrug, the green smoke protuding from her cigarette. "Oh, where are my manners...and you are?"
Taking a seat on one of the chairs meant for the audience, leaning back before looking at Asami. "Sato, get the three of us some brandy." she said, displaying how much she actually enjoyed having her ego stroked.

Asami was skeptical. A woman just waltzed in and just happened to be a big fan of Cruella was a bit coincidental, but she wasn't there to ask questions. It wasn't like they had been discussing anything that would get anyone in trouble, just usual business. Cruella complained a lot, mostly about her shows and her performers. That also wasn't much to go off of. The woman was still successful. A tough taskmaster but if you worked at it, you came out better for it. At least with some of the 'diamonds in the rough' that Asami had seen Cruella teach and mentor. Some of them were little more than a pretty face with a good singing range but Cruella made them better.
Three? That had taken Asami back a little. She looked between Cruella and the new woman before stepping over to the cabinet to fetch two more glasses as well as the brandy. She checked it. Still almost full, but at this rate, Asami would have to go out and try to get her hands on some more. She had to keep the brandy in stock or else Cruella wouldn't be happy. An unhappy Cruella did not make the job easy for Asami. She refilled Cruella's cup first, always refilling Cruella's cup first. Then the one for their surprise guest. She handed the woman the cup. Before she filled the last one.

Elizabeth could actually feel as she turned into a little child once again being face to face with one of her idols from since she can remember. Back in her childhood and during her teens Eliza admired Cruella surely a lot. Not only that the woman was beautiful and talented but as well smart. Once the brunette had found out that Cruella had left Tennessee for good she was surely heartbroken yet at the same time inspired that her idol obviously brought it to fame. Indeed so much fame and glamour that still every now and then Eliza has gotten to hear quite the news including about the accident. Yet all of that didn´t matter since she was too excited to see Cruella actually in person. "Oh I´m so sorry! How unforgivable rude of me. My name is Elizabeth Blythes. It´s a true honor to meet you miss de Devil, and a sure pleasure to meet you as well ehm miss Sato?"
While the younger woman was gone to fetch the liquor, thousands of thoughts flew through Elizabeths head. There was just so much she wanted to ask Cruella yet probably there was so little time. Not to mention that she was quite sure that even if they had as much time as they wanted, the star would just answer all of her questions like that. Sure this would be too much to hope for.
After what felt like seconds for Elizabeth thanked the assumed assistant of Cruella which already had returned and given her a cup of brandy. People may say what they wanted but in fact the star didn´t seem as terrible as many people would gossip. Hot tempered, sure, but not a true devil hiding it´s tail and horns under the big coat.

Cruella was leaning back on her seat, one leg folded over the other as she watched for each and every one of Elizabeth's reactions, an amused expression stamped in her face while listening to her speak. This Elizabeth girl seemed rather bemused and intrigued by her, as one should be. It was not every day that one managed to get some alone time with someone as incredible as Cruella had turned out to be in her reportoire. She certainly felt as if she could make a diamond out of every single piece of dirty coal around her, and in her eyes, there certainly was a lot of coal around her.
"Elizabeth Blythe." she suddenly spoke, her tone tongue in cheek as she raised an eyebrow, taking a deep puff of her cigarette with curiosity towards the young girl. "Such a lovely little name, dear. I wouldn't suppose you expected to find someone like me here, did you, Lizzie?" she then asked, a clear pet name already attributed to the young girl, as Cruella usually did. Luckily for both Asami and Elizabeth, she had chosen to go for less obvious and less insulting approaches. "And what do you do for a living, then? Must be something decent, seeing how you left that little hole."
Her gaze was directed towards Asami for a second, mild annoyace in Cruella's expression before she rolled her eyes. "Sato, I don't pay you to be observant but dear lord, take a seat. I didn't ask you to pour yourself some brandy for nothing, darling. Let's have a chat, like proper ladies, yes?" she said in the form of an order, yet visibly annoyed that Asami was not taking this opportunity to relax.

Asami wasn't sure of the professionalism of having drinks with her boss and a random stranger. She sighed before taking a seat across from Cruella, nursing the glass of brandy in her hand. Maybe she did need a drink. Cruella could be taxing on the nerves. If the pay hadn't been as good as it had, and the job market as difficult as it could be, Asami may have looked into other work places. Cruella may have been a cruel task master, but at least the only abuse Asami had to put up with was verbal.
She was also concerned about what a 'chat like proper ladies' with her boss would entail. The woman was often critiquing this or that about every little thing a person said, did or wore. Asami did very few things the woman liked aside from her work. Her clothes were out of fashion. She wore very little makeup. The only jewelry she had were her parents' wedding bands and a pearl necklace her mother had. But pearls were 'so last season, darling' and she was forbidden from wearing them to work. Lest she invoke Cruella's wrath. She had never danced before in her life nor had she tried her hand at singing.
"It's nice to meet you as well, Miss Blythe." she said politely - to appease Cruella.
