((OOC: Korso and Aria can't post right now because of a power outage))Charlotte was done for the moment. She was able to take a short break allowing her to rest her voice and get a drink. She slipped onto the floor and sat down at the bar. She signaled to the bartender silently so no one would know what she was drinking. After all she couldn't let people know she was drinking. All the law abiding citizens would raise hell, well the cops anyway. She took her drink sipping it lightly as she walked around the lounge. She turned and accidentally bumped into someone. Charlotte turned looking at the girl she bumped into. The other girl was a cute little red head. She had a lovely purple dress and hat. "Hello there Dear. I'm Charlotte Marcello." Charlotte said with a wide smile before taking a small sip of her drink. She was trying very heard not to drink to much. She didn't want to start grabbing at people. After a few songs had passed, she thought it would be a good idea to go mingle. But who, out of the many people in the Moonlight Lounge, was available that she knew? Mr. McCoppin and some other girls she had seen around the hotel were there, but they tended to mind their own business. Her best friend hadn't shown up yet Mr. Diverio was probably busy talking with clients and Ms. Harris had only come to humor her. On the bright side, there were plenty of people who she hadn't met yet. But who would be interested in someone like her? Then... she spotted her in the flesh. Charlotte Marcello! The ebony haired woman actually bumped into her. And she talked to her too! " I...I..I know... I was at your gig at the Jive and Thrive... I'm sure there are others you wanna talk to though..."

Charlotte smiled and laughed. "Oh don't be silly dear. I'm bored and I have to get back up on stage in twenty minutes. I would love to talk to someone new. And I can tell you are new not just to me but to Gatsbary. Your dress is lovely and very fashionable but you just have such a sweet and innocent look." She reached forward and touched the other girls hair. "Oh I love your hair. It's such a beautiful shade of red. Now tell me your name and then come have a drink with me." She took the other woman's elbow and pulled her along over to the bar.

Ray watched as a group of kids walked up Aria. The one with black hair gave the little princess one of those strawberry martins. And they seemed to be talking. He watched with interest as they interacted.

Lacie raise a brow at Arty, her own cover blown and yet Lacie strangely didn't seem to mind. The two of them may just be in the same boat, she mused, reaching up and grabbing an hors d'oeuvre from the platter of a passing waiter--along with a glass of what looked like champagne. Yes, she wasn't that old, but Papa allowed her to drink a small glass of it with dinner every once in a while, so she saw no harm in it. She took a sip of the sweet drink and smiled, biting into the meatball afterward.
Sweet and savory was a duo she enjoyed.
Lacie nibbled on her little snack and sipped at her glass as she watched Al talk with Aria. She wrinkled her nose a little at the strawberry in the martini, knowing from what she'd heard from adults that regular martinis weren't sweet, so putting a strawberry with one just seemed like a bad idea. Aria seemed to agree because she put the drink down and didnt pick it back up.
Lacie looked to Arty again. "What Papa doesn't know won't hurt him... or me," she replied with a shrug of her shoulders. She was feeling a little annoyed. Not at Arty, but at Al. He apparently had forgotten that they were there for a reason and it wasn't to get drunk and dance. But, whatever. As long as he didn't make a scene, hopefully they had time to swipe some wallets and valuables later. "So whats your real name?" she asked the other blonde inquisitively. "Arty short for something?"

Post by John Constantine on Jun 20, 2017 19:41:41 GMT -6
Heading right to the circle tables Elizabeth rushed to get one of the tables standing closer to the dancefloor. Not that she needed too since in general there were still some free tables. Yet she just couldn´t risk to miss a free dance show or at least sort of. As she had decided a table to have a meal at and was now standing right in front of it with Constantine, she checked the big yet elegant purse she still had with her, since she had refused to give it to the wardrobe right from the beginning, if her small notebook was still in it after all that quick moving. Luckily both the notebook as well as a pen were still there and ready to get used by the author when needed. Now that she knew that her most important items, besides her dress and companion of course, were still save with her she sat down at the table at the table and looked through the menu which sure was bigger than she had expected. She could easily spot light as well as "heavy" meal offers as well as a variety of fish, meat and other dish options. "Hmmmm." Moving her view from left to right and back she tried to get her stomach to tell her how much would be good to eat for now leading right to the question what exactly to eat. All of it looked good and probably most if not all of the offers were cooked better at this place than she could ever do at home. It wasn´t like Eliza was a terrible cook but as well she wasn´t a professional even though she cooked quite regulary. After all she now had a grown up man to feed too besides her. Smirking about this funny turn of events the female eventually made up her mind to order a good steak with fancy vegetables. They were seated at a table, just for the two of them. Elizabeth perused the menu. He took that as his cue to do the same. All of the items were things that were finer than either she or Constantine could afford on their meager budgets, even if they saved and scraped for months, neither of them could put on a party this elaborate. Constantine ordered a smoked salmon with roasted russet potatoes and caramelized onions. The fish reminded him of home. It was so hard to find a place that did good fish and chips. He was certain these would be good. "To fine dining," Constantine said, toasting Elizabeth. "And our generous host." Was it generosity? It could be seen as a play of power and wealth. No one could deny that Korso knew how to put on a right proper party. For now no one was getting hurt. But what were they really paying for this meal by attending? It had yet to be seen. Constantine was going to spend it with his flatmate. Hopefully getting drunk at some point in the night.

Peter observed the conversation from a few steps back as Al tried to flirt with Don Korso's daughter. Word on the street was that Aria was hard to impress, and loved to intimidate the fellows that tried to talk to her. Course, Peter had never talked to the girl himself to test that theory, mostly because he simply didn't run the same joint she did. But judging by the occasional glances Al was sending back over his shoulder towards Peter, it looked like that rumor was true. And yet there was the raven-haired kid now, talking up a storm in a daring attempt to mask his nerves.
Peter smirked at the sight, grabbing an appetizer on a tray as a waiter walked past him. The man didn't even react to the action and simply continued walking like no one had even touched one of the delicacies. Perfect practice, Peter thought, popping the deviled egg in his mouth.
The only problem now, however, was that Al was drawing quite a lot of attention from people in the surrounding area which unfortunately included Peter at the moment. While the situation would have been fantastic as slight of hand required focused attention, it was best to not have it on the people doing the actual stealing part.
But thankfully, the real main attraction right now was Al and Aria Marcello; Peter was just an accessory at this point. If he found the perfect opportunity to slip away, perhaps he could get out of the limelight and blend into the crowd again to start getting to work. With so many eyes looking away from him, he could easily make his rounds undetected without the audience so much as batting an eye.
Amused by the idea of the challenge, he continued to study the interactions between the two people as Al tried his best to smooth-talk his way out of trouble, looking for the perfect moment to slip away.

Aria watched with interest as Al did not immediately run from hearing her father's name. That earned him a point. She honestly didn't like saying that stuff, but she always wanted to see who was afraid of her father. It had helped her plenty of times. She really didn't like people who couldn't ignore the rumors of her father. Even though the rumors were most likely true, she didn't want people hating her father. It upsetted her. And even if she didn't show it at times, she looked up to her father and would hurt anyone who'd want to hurt him. Let's say he and Charlotte weren't the only ones trained with a gun.
Aria smirked, "Of course men would flee after hearing his name. Women too," Aria stated before she took a sip of her martini. She was now ignoring the one Al gave her, finding that the strawberry did not go well with the drink. She liked the saltiness the olive gave the drink more. But it was a good effort on his part. Al then asked about a dance and offered to get her another drink, making her raise her eyebrows in shock. Two more points to him.
The shocked look faded and a sincere smile formed on her lips. This man had impressed her. He definitely earned a dance. "I'd love a dance. And as for a drink, you can get me a Mary Pickford," Aria said, her big emerald eyes staring right into his hazel ones.
((OOC: Mary Pickford is a Prohibition Era cocktail made with white rum, fresh pineapple juice, grenadine, and Maraschino liqueur. It is served shaken and chilled, often with a Maraschino cherry.))

Post by Korso Marcello on Jun 20, 2017 20:02:50 GMT -6
Korso's eyes wondered all around the room. Faces, faces, and more faces but no Aria. Charlotte had stopped singing and now he was concerned about her whereabouts, yet he wasn't ready to leave his post and Elias and Aurora's company. He tried to keep his composure when suddenly he found his hand being shaken by a blonde-headed young man.
"Don Korso, I just wanted to congratulate you on this wonderful opening and the beauty of this place. It's truly wonderful," said Cale.
Half-paying attention, Korso nodded, continuing to scan the room when a sudden thought occurred.
"Woah there son, that's quite a handshake for a young man," said Korso, eyeing his hand. He pulled Cale's knuckles closer to better examine them. "Oh yeah, that's a good fist, kid. You a boxer or somethin'?"
With a laugh, he placed his arm over Cale's shoulder and showed him off to his guests. "Let me introduce ya to some of my pals: the lovely Aurora an' Mr. Father of the Year, Elias. What'cha think, my man, this kid's packing some serious muscle or what?" He patted the guy's arm, as he looked over his shoulder, spotting Dean McCoppin and Evelyn O'Connell on the outside of the entrance. "Ah, surprise-surprise, looks like the odd job man and his lady friend decided to show their faces afterall," he thought, remembering the profiles his men compiled on them and many others.

Al nodded and agreed with what she said. It was true, a lot of men did fear her father. A lot of women feared him too - equally the same. He heard the humors and didn't know if all were true or not. He blew off the thoughts that started to come into his mind, the rumors weren't necessary to think on. Besides, I don't think anyone would want to think on them if possibly Al's life could be in his hands if this went wrong. He didn't want to be another rumor that instills fear into people whoever dared of crossing Korso.
Al listened to her and heard what she wanted, he smiled and said, "One Mary Pickford coming right up, M'lady!" He jumped up gently grabbing her hand, kissing it, and winking playfully. He walked off to order the drink for her - just like she wanted. He asked the bartender for the drink and the bartender stared at him. The bartender said, "Haven't you had enough? Al was taken back by the man's comment and said, "For your information, it's for Don Korso's daughter! How rude." Al couldn't help but grin when he stated who it was for - he was curious on hoe the bartender would react. The bartender had no remark but started to make the drink. He thought to himself, She really wasn't lying. Al scoffed at how he feared them and just peaked over at Aria. The bartender finished it, handing him the drink. Al, winked at him and walked back to her.
Al greeted Aria again with a smile, "One Mary Pickford just like you wanted!" He sat the drink beside her and then waited a moment for her - to see if it was to her liking. He then stuck his hand out slowly and said, "So, about that dance. Think you can keep up?" He winked and was being playful towards her. He then chuckled a little, he knew she was a great dancer. He has heard some rumors about the daughter's talents. He then thought to himself, Let's just hope I can keep up.

"She looks half your age," Aria said to Korso after eyeing Aurora. Lifting his eyebrow, he glared at his daughter playfully before he was suddenly poked on the cheek. "Missed me hot shot?" He was instantly greeted by Aurora's attention. "Speaking of which..."
Koros took her hand and kissed it. "I've wept every day in your absense. How are ya doin', doll?" He raised his hand to the crowd. "Is this party to your likin'?" His eyes widened upon noticing Beatrice Harris walking through his establishment's doors. "It can't be. Tell me that isn't Miss Harris, here, in public." He shook his head with disbelief. "I guess even she couldn't resist the party." With that said he stepped to the side to block his daughter from her view, which gave Elias the chance to notice her. Korso's eyes wondered all around the room. Faces, faces, and more faces but no Aria. Charlotte had stopped singing and now he was concerned about her whereabouts, yet he wasn't ready to leave his post and Elias and Aurora's company. Aurora chuckled, poor thing. How funny, "Poor thing, missed your 'best girl'? Haha, better that you're here 'big timer'~" She stroked the man's hair and at the question she smirked, and gave a light nod. After all, it was a big party and Korso always outdid himself in the party department. "Of course Baby, better around the ones on the block." She shrugged, she'd always get hit on, a impossible inevitability. He looked at the old woman, "It's a party hosted by Korso Marcello, it'll be a waste to miss this." She said, stroking his chest and giving a smirk. Aurora giggled, atleast Cale got a loving introduction, atleast John was the family man. It reminded her off her dad, that wasn't a bad thing, atleast not now. "Nice to meet ya' lad." Aurora giving a grin.

How cute. He played around with a dime that was in his pocket. John decided to watch the bonding hour, until he walked behind Korso, sneakily getting his hand off; just him doing an innocent 'prank' or 'joke', "How do I look?" John chuckled teasingly, "But seriously, Big K, you blew my mind out of the ball - park," Not! He just gave the guy 'sincere- sounding - compliments' which was just flattery in John's eyes, maybe it didn't deserve to be such a sincere phrase or it was the cynic which he his to erase suspicion.

Dante sighed in slight annoyance. He was stuck backstage, being one of the guards watching Charlotte's door to make sure no one entered it when she was inside or away. Even from where he was located he heard Korso's speech, but he missed all of the excitement that the crowd feed back to him.
He didn't really mind being back there, but it meant he was missing a chance to possibly dance with Aria. If memory served him right, she hated large crowds. Before Korso had given him the orders to guard Charlotte's room, Dante had envisioned himself still Aria away from the crowds for a little while, dancing with her outside, away from eyes and ears.
When Charlotte went out on stage to sing, one of the barely dressed dancing girls, ran up to him to help her with headpiece. Feeling flustered and cornered, Dante helped the dancer out, not realizing he had opened himself to all the girls.
They started forming a line, waiting for him to help them out with one thing or another, some even purposefully sabotaged their costumes. The other men that were guarding the backstage all got a laugh at seeing Dante flustered with half dressed women throwing themselves at him. A few were jealous and even tried to step in to help the ladies out, but the girls ignored them or left.
It wasn't until the stage manager started calling places that he saw what was happening to his girls. "We're about to go on! Shoo, ladies! Get to your places!" he hissed, making the girls scatter.
Dante let out a sigh of relief before one of his fellow mobsters slapped him hard on the shoulder. "Don't be giving into those temptations now, kid!" he laughed, causing Dante to roll his eyes.
"Yeah, yeah, believe me, these dames ain't worth my time," he stated as he straightened his jacket.
"I don't know, the one who's top was falling off was really eye catching," one guy said, as he rubbed his chin, looking over at the girls as the started dancing on stage.
Dante felt his neck heat up at the reminding. "Not my type..." he mumbled.

Artemis snorted, while she probably should have been surprised the younger girl knew who she was so quickly, she really wasn't. Lacie was a smart and very observant kid. She raised an eyebrow though when her companion grabbed a glass of champagne. The girl had a point though, what the old man didn't know wouldn't hurt anyone. "Just be careful, he'd throw a fit if he knew what you were up to." At this point the other boy was determined to hit on Aria, Artemis wasn't very religious but she felt like making the sign of the cross and praying just for his sake. Lacie wasn't the only one to wrinkle her nose at the martini offering, the drink looked absolutely terrible. She felt a little bad for the guy, there was no way he would still be hitting on her if he wasn't so intoxicated, she trusted he at least had the common sense for that. Judging by his current behavior though it was difficult to give him the benefit of the doubt. No doubt the idiot's actions were making life slightly annoying for Lacie and Peter. If they were here to steal, and she was more than certain they were, the idiot was doing a piss poor job at it. "So whats your real name?" she asked the other blonde inquisitively. "Arty short for something?"Artemis blinked, her focus on Peter and his companion broken momentarily. She looked at Lacie once more and plucked the champagne out of her hands. The kid didn't need any more. "Artemis, Artemis Kesley. How did you figure out who I was anyway?"

Ray rolled his eyes and the dark haired kid practically ran to the bar and brought the girl back a drink. What a little fish(slang for: a college freshman or a first timer in prison) She took the drink and seemed very happy about it. Ray scowled as the dark haired girl took the hand of the young punk after taking a drink, and they headed toward the dance floor. He took a deep breath through his nose and practically snorted it out in anger.
He slowly began to make his way over to the two kids. He didn't know why he was doing this. He had never even talked to the girl but, the way she moved the tilt of her head? Just being around her seemed to hypnotized him. And now without even realizing it she was just a few feet away.
He grabbed her hand taking it out of the hand of the boy she was dancing with and pulled her to him slipping his free hand to her hip as he began to dance with her instead. "Mind if I cut in kid? Didn't think so." he smirked as he pulled her away in another direction on the dance floor.
"Hello there Princess." He looked down at Aria with a large smirk on his face.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cale smiled as the Don introduced him to Elias, who he already knew, and a woman named Aurora. "Hello ,sir." He shook Elias's hand and then turned to the pretty blonde. "Ma'am." He kissed the back of her hand smile at her respectfully. When you work for the Don you learn quick. You don't flirt with woman around him. Either they are his daughters or dangerous or a mistress of his. None of which with work well for you if you flirt with them. Then he turned back to the Don focusing on him.
"I suppose you wouldn't remember me sir. I worked for you a few years ago when I was younger. Doing some Boxing, outside the ring" He said the last bit carefully explaining to the Don without being too obvious what he had done when working for the mob.
"You were gracious enough to allow me to leave your employ so I and a close friend could start up our own speakeasy, the Jive and Thrive, sir, while paying the appropriate taxes of course. I'm Cale Tucker." The young man said quickly realizing he hadn't said his name yet. "I also wanted to thank you that you allowed Charlotte to preform at Jive and Thrive a few months ago when our regular singer ran off with her boy. Charlotte was truly a gift no matter how short a time with had her with us." He complemented Korso's oldest daughter while also thanking the man for the help.

Of course she's bored, Mill, why else would she be hanging out me in the first place? She scratched the back of her head awkwardly. Was she flirting with her? No, it couldn't have been. She was much too plain of girl to be noticed by Charlotte Marcello, human perfection. The girl blushed slightly and looked away at every compliment she was being given. Charlotte went on and on complimenting her, even to the point where she was touching her. All she could do was silently thank her with a nod of her head. Her eyes widened in surprise. She's touching me... she's actually touching me... Millicent recoiled and rubbed the spot where she had touched her as if she was embarrassed by the flapper associating herself with someone like her. Well, she was, but Charlotte didn't mind at all. She pulled her over to the bar and offered - no - insisted that she tell her her name and drink with her. "Millicent Foster. I moved here as of a few months ago, Miss Marcello." Why did she give her full name? It sounded like the name of someone's great-grandmother who was protesting for the banning of alcohol. "But you can call me Millie. My friends call me that... surprisingly."

When Al took her hand and kissed it, Aria felt her heart stop. There it was with the hand kissing. Of course it was a manner thing, but she wanted to rip her hand from him. But thankfully she didn't and just smiled at him. She waited for him to come back with the drink. She even decided to give the rest of her martini away to a butler that passed her. Aria had grown tired of it. She was hoping her new drink would satisfy her sweet tooth she was having.
Aria smiled at Al when he brought her, her drink. "Why thank you," Aria said as she raised the glass at him a little before taking a sip. Her green eyes seemed to sparkle at the taste of it. "Wow, this is better than others I had," Aria stated before looking at Al. She then placed her drink on her table as he asked her for the dance. "Well, you did get me a drink. And of course I can," Aria laughed as she took his hand and went towards the dance floor.
Though before they could even start to dance, a hand grabbed hers and took her from Al. She gasped before freezing when she looked up at the person who grabbed her. It was the man she had seen at the cafe. Her emerald eyes stared at him in shock. And next thing she knew he dragged her away from Al. "W-wait a minute!" Aria said before the man turned to her and wrapped his hand back around her waist and started to dance with her.
"Hello there, Princess."
Aria felt herself freeze at the sound of his voice. She couldn't believe how fast he took her from Al, and she couldn't believe how smooth he was about it either. She could feel the dominance pretty much pouring out from the man.. And to her surprise, it excited her. It didn't help that he was even more handsome up close.. "His muscles.." Aria thought to herself. Her heart was beating a bit fast now.
"Hello," Aria said as she was finding it hard to speak..
